Man in drug watch-list Shot killed in buy-bust

One of the top five in the drug watch-list of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Davao del Norte was killed during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday at 10:00 PM at Purok 4-A, Bermudez Plains, Barangay Apokon, Tagum City.

This operation was jointly conducted by elements of Tagum City Police Station and Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) Office, DNPPO in coordination with the PDEA and overall supervision of Chief Supt. Allan Manibog, provincial director.

“I am giving drug peddlers a fair warning to mend their ways or face the long arm of the law. PRO 11 will not rest until all those involved in illegal drugs trade will be put behind bars,” said Chief Supt. Marcelo C Morales, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 in a released statement.

Manibog identified the suspect as Alvin Caluban Deocampo, top five PNP/PDEA drug watch-list personality, 50, married, jobless, and a resident of Purok 4-A, Bermudez Plains, Barangay Apokon, Tagum City.

The team was able to buy from the suspect one heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu with P1000 as marked money who tried to flee while shooting as the arresting officers.  This prompted the lawmen to fire back.

The suspect was taken to Davao Regional Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician Dr. Joy Pillado. Attending personnel from the said hospital attested that they have recovered two heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu from Deocampo’s body.

Also arrested were the following newly identified drug personalities; Joel DabinPandoro, 44, married, laborer, a resident of Purok 4-A, Biatiles St., Bermudez Plains, Barangay Apokon, Tagum City and seized from him was one small black canister that contained two elongated heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu; and FelyflorPolangko Tan, , married, habal-habal driver, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Anibongan, MacoComval Province and seized from his possession one big heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu.

The operating team caught them in the act of having pot session and seized one rolled aluminum tooter, two pieces aluminum strips, one blue disposable lighter, one green disposable lighter attached with aluminum needle and one roll aluminum foil and The buy-bust money one piece P1000.

Responding Investigators, PO2 Jonar C. Bahinting and PO2 Glenville D. Siapo processed the crime scene and were able to recover one  unit caliber .38 revolver loaded with five rounds of live ammunition and one fired cartridge case and two fired cartridge cases believed to be coming from .9mm caliber pistol.

The pieces of evidence seized and recovered from the buy-bust operation are now at the custody of the investigators pending turn over to crime laboratory for examination while the non-drug pieces of evidence are now in the custody of Tagum CPS for proper disposition.

The two drug peddlers are currently detained at Tagum CPS who were charged for violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10591 otherwise known as an act Providing a Comprehensive Law on Forearms and Ammunition and Providing Penalties for Violations thereof, Morales added.
