Parents warned v. NPA recruitment

The 10th Infantry Division has warned parents to be more aware of the activities of their children in school as they maybe being recruited by the communist-led New People’s Army.

“We are asking the parents to look out for their children, the activities that they are participating in school. We are also asking these children to focus on their studies and not be fooled by groups whose goal is to destroy your dreams and aspirations to live peacefully in a progressive community,” Capt. Jerry Lamosao, Chief of the Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) and spokesperson of 10th ID, said  today, Monday .

Lamosao said that all students in schools are actually being targeted for recruitment.

“Not only in schools per se, the focal point here is the youth sector to include students. With the description, college students are being targeted by the communist terrorists,” he said.

He said CNTs are using the social media and other platforms in their recruitment.

“We are also looking into different levels in general,” he said.

He explained ‘that once recruited these youth are given task or exposure to far flung areas and immerse in the community. They are introduced to twisted perception that the government is non-functional that it needs the youth to propel the cause of the communist-terrorist. Along the way, recruited students are persuaded to believe that it needs an armed struggle to pursue their dreams. Later we will find them killed in an encounter with the government forces.’

“Hopefully, no one will be recruited in our area,” he added.
