The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11, regional director, Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales has directed all the police department and city directors to ensure local ordinances related to Undas 2018.
“The regional director has prepared the Ligtas Undas 2018 so he tasked all PDs and CDs to implement the local ordinances that they can implement,” said Chief Inspector Jason Baria, new spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) 11during the weekly AFP-PNP Southern Mindanao press conference at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday.
He reminded the public to abide by the four Don’ts imposed during All Saints Day and All Soul’s Day.
The four Don’ts refer to the prohibition of alcohol drinks, bringing of deadly weapons, installation of loud music speakers and the bringing of gambling paraphernalia.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, Senior Inspector Maria Teresita Gaspan said that there will be a maximum deployment on the part of DCPO and will have full coverage in the city’s cemeteries and subdivisions.
“There will be police officers to be deployed inside the cemeteries not only from DCPO but also from Task Force (TF) Davao.” she said.
She added that there will be mobile patrols assigned to roam around the subdivisions and resident areas to ensure the safety of the people and the houses left behind by the residents because there were reports last year that the robbery cases increased during undas.
She said there will be personnel in charge in manning the traffic and there will be check points in the entry and exit points of the city.
According to Col. Nolasco Mempin, commander of TF Davao, the check point areas are on high alert on undas.
“Here in Davao city, we were always on a heightened alert on any occasion because even on normal days we have a lot of visitors coming here and we also hosts a lot of big events in SMX Convention Center or Concerts so there is no time to let our guard down here in the city,” Mempin said.
