The city government of Davao inaugurated three rural health centers to provide residents living in far-flung districts to avail themselves of medical services.
Mayor Inday Sara Z. Duterte was joined by Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director, Dr. Annabelle Yumang, during the blessing and opening of the Baguio, Calinan and Tugbok rural health centers on Friday.
According to City Information Office (CIO), the opening of the new health centers is part of the city government’s efforts to bring government services closer to the people. Health is one of the priorities of Mayor Inday under the so-called Byaheng Do30 agenda.
“The City Government, through the City Health Office (CHO), will handle the facility. Minor injuries can be done here to (reduce) the influx of patients at SPMC,” Mayor Inday said.
The lady mayor clarified that the health centers will not function as infirmaries or facilities where people can be admitted for other forms of sickness.
“The people still need to go to hospitals for admission. They can only accept minor injuries here,” she added.
The centers are equipped with brand new hospital devices funded by the DOH, while the building was funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
