The Starkey Hearing Foundation Inc., on Tuesday provided free hearing aids to over 500 hearing-impaired patients in Davao City at Davao City Recreational Center, formerly Almendras Gym.
The Starkey is a US-based non-profit organization owned by Bill Austin and Tani Austin, continues to give the gift of hearing to the impaired or those who have hearing problems in a bid to help and encourage the patients achieve their dreams.
Tani Austin, Starkey Hearing Foundation co-founder, said that the second Davao Mission hearing aid is part of their Philippine –mission league that aims to provide an access in hearing healthcare.
“Each hearing aid is made with advance technology and customized for every patient,” said Austin.
He added they also provide aftercare services where patients who availed the aid are monitored every month as part of their program.
“Aside from aftercare services, we also provide counseling, batteries for the hearing aid and checking of the hearing apparatus,” said Austin.
According to Austin, more than 1,200 hearing impaired patients were beneficiaries of the foundation’s first Davao Mission last year.
The second mission aid of the foundation is in collaboration with the City Mayor’s Office, City Health Office and office of Councilor April Marie C. Dayap.
