Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go called for speedy justice on the killing of AKO BICOL party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe who was shot by still unidentified suspects in Daraga, Albay, Saturday afternoon.
Go said the killing of Batocabe was an unfortunate thing to the country’s democracy that even a government official who is supportive on the government programs of President Rodrigo Duterte was killed in a broad daylight.
“Nanawagan ako sa ating mga awtoridad para sa madaliang pagresolba sa pagpaslang kay Congressman Batocabe at sa kanyang bodyguard (I am calling our authorities for the immediate case resoultion of Congressman Batocabe and his bodyguard )” Go said.
The former SAP said the suspect including the mastermind of the crime should be immediately arrested to serve justice to Batocabe’s family.
Go said the Philippine National Police need to work hard for the investigation for the identification suspects and its motive leading to the murder of Batocabe.
“Sa ating mga kababayan, kung may nalalaman kayo na maaring makatulong sa pagresolba sa kasong ito, ibigay po natin sa mga awtoridad upang mabigyan ng katarungan ang mga biktima (To our fellows there, if you know something that could help resolve the case, please inform the authority to give justice to the victim),” he said.
Go said Batocabe was one of the proponents in establishing a Malasakit Center in Legazpi, Albay. The Malasakit Center was established to house together various government agencies, such as DOH, DSWD, Philhealth, PAGCOR, and PCSO to make it easier for indigent and disadvantaged patients to avail themselves of medical and financial assistance from the government.
“We shared the same advocacy for helping the poor and prioritizing the need for quality healthcare especially for indigent patients. We will make sure that justice is served and his legacy as a brilliant legislator, committed public servant and dedicated family man will continue,” he said.
Police report bared, Batocabe was attacked by unidentified gunmen at around 3 p.m. Saturday, just as he was about to get in his vehicle after the gift-giving event in Barangay Burgos in Daraga. Batocabe is running for Daraga mayor in the May 2019 elections.
