Tight security bared for Rizal Day honors

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 will implement tight security measures in Davao City on Sunday as President Rodrigo R. Duterte will lead the commemoration of the 122nd anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

PRO 11 director Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales said there will be a multi-layer security to ensure the safety of the President.

Morales said there will be maximum deployment of police personnel in every corner in the city during the celebration at Rizal Park along San Pedro Street.

City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) chief Dionisio Abude also bared there will would be five major roads closed in the city during the commemoration.

They are the intersection streets of  San Pedro corner Anda , C.M.Recto corner San Pedro, Bolton corner  Rizal, Ponciano corner Rizal, Pichon corner Anda going to Andres Bonifacio rotonda.

He said there will be a no parking policy within the area starting 1p.m onwards. Vehicles will be towed away from the closed streets.

He said it is expected that there will be heavy traffic jams in the streets of Pelayo, Rizal, Anda, portion of C.M. Recto, Quezon Boulevard, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Quirino Avenue, Chinatown area and Mc Arthur Highaway.

Abude appealed to the public to plan their travel ahead to avoid being stranded in the middle of heavy traffic jam.
