Operatives of Sta. Ana Police Station seized a total of P624,000 worth of illegal drugs from two unemployed men in Davao City in a sting operation Friday afternoon.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Maria Teresita Gaspan identified the suspects as Joel Alcoriza, 43 , of Guerrero Street and Danny Villarta, 44, of Malagamot in Barangay Panacan, both in Davao City.
Gaspan said the police launched a buy-bust operation in a car service shop along Dacudao Avenue, Barangay Paciano Bangoy upon validating the information on the illegal drug trade of the suspects.
She said a police agent transacted with Alcoriza for a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 in the presence of Villarta at around 4:35 p.m. of January 11.
Gaspan said when Alcoriza was about to receive the money, operatives immediately arrested the two and took the sachet of shabu sold to the agent
Upon frisking, another 13 sachets of illegal drugs were seized from the suspects weighing a total 52 grams with a street value total of P624,000.
“The arrest of the suspects is expected to paralyze if not stop the circulation of illegal drugs within the area of Paciano Bangoy and neighboring barangays within the city, Guerrero and some areas of Panacan,” she said
Gaspan said the patrons of the suspect are mostly skilled workers such as car mechanics and technicians, etc., however they are also distributing illegal drugs to other retailers.
She said the suspects are considered as high valued-target (HVT) due to the value of the drugs seized. Charges will be filed against Alcoriza and Villarta for violation of Republic Act 9165 the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
