A senior citizen was killed and another was injured seriously in a road accident involving a mixer truck and a motorcycle along the Carlos P. Garcia Highway, Saturday morning.
The victims were identified as Gloria Garcia, 65 and Melanio Garcia, 76 both residents of Brangay Catalunan Pequeño while the driver is Rene Blanco, 45, working at Safecon Industries and a resident of Jerome, Agdao.
Talomo Police Station report bared the accident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. of January 5, the intersection of Bangkal and Catalunan Grande Traffic Light.
Report said based on the account of Blanco, he was driving from the southern part of the city but that upon reaching the intersection, he felt something bumped to the right side of the mixer truck.
Upon verification, the motorcycle was found under the truck driven by Melanio and his passenger Gloria who died on the spot.
Melanio was rushed to Southern Philippines Medical Center due to the injuries he sustained while Blanco was brought to the police station and now detained for possible charges to be filed against him.
It is not determined if the Garcias are husband and wife.
