The Davao City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) has collected P299,695,125 of business permit fees during the first 12 days of the tax renewal period.
City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) acting head Erwin Alparaque said on Thursday during the iSpeak media forum at the City Hall of Davao, that as of January 16, a total of 10,678 applications for business permits were filed.
In 2018, Davao City granted 40,000 new and renewed business permits.
He said CTO is targeting to collect P1.3 billion from permits and licenses by the end of January 31.
Alparaque also announced that the online tax payment system for Landbank of the Phillippines was made operational on January 16 instead of January 7, due to technical adjustments.
“Our first online taxpayer was a business operator in Buhangin,” Alparaque said.
The city treasurer also revealed the biggest taxpayers of the city, as of Wednesday: Therma South (real property) with P306 million, and Davao Light and Power Co. (business) with P133.37 million, both companies affiliated with Aboitiz Group.
Business Bureau officer-in-charge Marissa Torrentera reminded the public that the satellite payment for the business permits in the Almendras Gym will only be until January 25, as the gym will be used as one of the major venues of the upcoming Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) 2019 meet starting January 27.
However, the processing of business permit applications inside the Sangguniang Panlungsod will continue until January 31.
Torrentera said that the bureau expects last-minute applications and renewal during the final weeks.
