Wanted BIFF fighter nabbed in Pantukan

Security forces in Compostela Valley province have arrested a member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) based in Davao Oriental who is also the NO. 3 most wanted in the region.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 regional director Chief Supt. Marcelo  Morales identified the suspect as

Ustadz Gulam Jikiri who was arrested in a checkpoint in Barangay Tambongon, Pantukan, Compostela Valley on the afternoon of January 3.

Morales said Jikiri has standing warrant of arrest  for murder  issued by Judge Hilarion  Clapiz Jr. of Regional Trial Court  Branch 3 in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

He said the checkpoint was purposely conducted by the authorities to respond on the information regarding the presence of Jikiri at his brother’s house in the area.

Morales said the Jikiri was  onboard a  white Toyota commuter van heading towards Lupon, Davao Oriental when he was caught by operatives.

He said the implementation of the warrant of arrest against Jikiri is part of the continuous offensive stance of the authorities against insurgents to foil their plans.

Morales added that a continuous manhunt operations against wanted persons is being carried out throughout region 11 to attain a safer place to live, work and do business for everyone.
