‘Winning’ SP bets in 3 districts also known
Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” T. Go and former Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa are topnotchers of the winning 12 senatorial candidates in another election survey in Davao City, this time, the “Blue Vote” 2019 City-Wide/Off-campus Electoral Survey of the Ateneo de Davao’s University Research Council.
The results of the survey done on April 4 and April 7 to 16, a period of 11 days, in the city’s three congressional district, were presented to the public by the researchers last Friday, May 3, at the Ateneo’s Finster Hall. The presentors said the survey involved 1,599 face-to-face interviews with as many respondents in 63 barangays of the city. The three congressional districts had 533 respondents each.
The respondents were asked who they would vote for if the elections were held during the survey for the positions of senator, congressman/representative, mayor, vice mayor and councilor.
16 top senate bets
The research group bared 15 top choices for the 12 positions of senator for the May 13 mid-term elections. To do this, the respondents were shown the list of 62 candidates for the position.

Go and Bato also topped the Magic in another city-wide survey conducted April 8 to 12 by the University of Mindanao’s Institute of Popular Opinion. In that survey, the senatorial “winners” were Bato, Go, Tole inntino, Pimentel, Mangudadato, Villar, Angara, Poe, Cayetano, Marcos, Binay, Freddie Aguilar and Osmena in that order.
It may be noted that in both surveys, former senators Lito Lapid, Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Osmena did not come out among the top 12 choices.
The Ateneo survey also recorded the percentage of votes that Sara Duterte-Carpio (mayor), Baste Duterte (vice mayor), Pulong Duterte (1st district congressman), Vince Garcia (2nd district congressman), and Isidro Ungab (3rd district congressman) would get if elections were held during the survey. Sara got more than 90 percent, while Baste, Pulong, Vince and Sid got more than 80 percent of the respondents’ nod.

Rider issues
The research also included questions on burning issues of the day as rider.
The respondents who have heard about the issues are in favor of federalism, extension of martial law in Mindanao, lowering of age of criminal responsibility to 12 years, establishment of an industrial zone, ban on plastics and Styrofoam, but 50-50 on abolishing the political term limit and political dynasty. Only 41.6 percent favor Rice Tarrification Law.
The majority of the respondents (77.3 percent) agreed that income gap of citizens is widening.
Dabawenyos surveyed also urged the political leaders to work hard in solving illegal drugs, low income, unemployment, poverty, criminality and peace and order.
A simple majority of the respondents were female, (51 percent), of whom 56.9 percent were born in Davao City and 74.3 percent grew up here. AMA
