A three-day youth celebration dubbed as #YOUthCan will be held in Davao City on August 10-12 to discuss matters regarding public health, create collective solutions and award youth organizations with the most effective and sustainable projects in addressing social issues.
#YOUthCan: Unleashing the Power of the Youth features a two-day Ideas Positive Youth Forum on Public Health (IPYFPH 2019) that gathers youth leaders all over the country to discuss issues pertaining to public health and craft sustainable solutions.
“Basically, ideas positive youth forum on public health focuses on gathering youth and young people, not just in the Philippines but in Southeast Asia, to talk about conversations about public health,” said UNILAB Foundation Inc. Program Manager Alfred D. Dicto. “Kasi lagi nating naiisip or laging na mimention ang mga kabataan when it comes to public health sa negative side.”
The program aims to gather ideas on issues like HIV/AIDS, mental health, Tuberculosis, health care for indigenous people and persons with disabilities (PWDs) and other public health problems.
“The young people themselves identify the problems in their own community then they pitch to us their ideas for potential mentoring and funding,” Dicto said.
The organization has partnered with Malayan Colleges Mindanao to secure a 800 seating capacity venue.
The IPYFPH 2019 will also showcase 14 innovative projects implemented, initiated and piloted by the Filipino young people from Tuguegarao to Tawi-tawi.
Sangguniang Kabataan officers and youth leaders from different youth groups ages 15 to 30 years old are invited to witness and reecho their knowledge to their communities.
An International Youth Day celebration will be held on August 12 in SMX Convention Center to commence the 3-day youth celebratrion.
2,000 to 3,000 youth from different parts in Southeast Asia are expected to join the celebration.
