The Municipal Government of Carmen through its Municipal Information Office (MIO) recently hosted the sixth regular Monthly Meeting of the Information Officers Network (ION) Davao del Norte.
The June 2023 Regular Meeting of ION Davao del Norte not only brought forth discussion on the communication and advocacy plans regarding the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) but it also served as the launch pad of Carmen’s “Balut’ Box: Ang Pasalubong na Walang Daya”.
Presided by its President Michael Angelo Resueno of Panabo City Information Office, the June 2023 ION meeting tackled the DRDP 2023-2028 Communication and Advocacy as its learning and development session.
On behalf of Regional Development Council Vice President and National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) XI Regional Director Ma. Lourdes Lim, Development Research Division Chief Economic Dev’t Specialist Lalaine M. Sajelan of NEDA XI discussed the DRDP 2023-2028 Communication and Advocacy Plan which will run a roadshow regionwide.
Sajelan enjoined members of ION Davao del Norte to become part of the grassroots network of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in generating public knowledge and understanding regarding the DRDP 2023-2028.
Meanwhile, Municipal Tourism Officer Arlene Abayon presented during the same occasion Carmen’s “Balut’ Box: Ang Pasalubong na Walang Daya” which is a newly created concept of mass selling locally produced “balut” wrapped in souvenir boxes.
Abayon explained that Carmen Municipal Mayor Leonidas Bahague initiated this innovative way of making sure that customers far and wide, from all walks of life, really get the balut they want with the right number of treatment days, whether 16-day, 18-day or a “penoy” kind of egg.
Aside from the plain “baluts” that the Municipality of Carmen is now popular of, it also sells hot “grilled and sauteed baluts” and these are available at the “Balutan” area, national highway in Carmen, Davao del Norte.
On the other hand, Resueno discussed with the group some organizational concerns and made sure that representative from each participating agency and LGU shared updates from their respective offices. (JMDA/PIA Davao del Norte)
