Police suspects personal grudge as the possible motive in the killing of Maco Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Jorlan Bon Sacay on July 18.
In a press briefing on July 26 in Mandaya Hotel, Davao City, Police Major Catherine dela Rey, spokesperson of Police Regional Office XI, disclosed that investigators had already identified persons of interest in the killing of the youth leader.
“Sa pagkakaron, ginahimo na nila ang mga affidavits sa mga witnesses para ma file ang case (For now, they are making the affidavits of the witnesses for the filing of the case),” said Major dela Ray.
She said that they have ruled out politics as a motive based on their investigation.
Sacay was shot dead by a riding in tandem just outside their house in Barangay Binuangan of the said town.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Emerson Pugong, Maco chief of police, revealed during a press conference on July 19 that a closed circuit television (CCTV) showed the face of one of the suspects as he unconsciously took off his hood.
During the said conference, Governor Dorothy Montejo Gonzaga and Maco Mayor Carlos Voltaire Rimando said that friends of Sacay and the local government unit raised a total of P2.5 million as reward money for anyone who has information that will lead to the identification and apprehension of killers.
The remains of Sacay will be laid to rest in Holy Land Memorial Park in Pantukan on July 28. (mlu/PIA Davao de Oro)
