The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is preparing various offices of the city government of Davao to become disaster-ready through personnel training.
CDDRMO chief Alfredo Baluran explained on Wednesday that this is among the mandates of the Republic Act (RA 10121) that provides a comprehensive, all-hazard, multi-sectoral, inter-agency, and community-based approach to disaster risk management through the formulation of the National Disaster Risk Management Framework.
DRRM has four priority areas that covers: prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response and rehabilitation and recovery.
“Kailangan i-capacitate ug mao na among ginatarget nga dapat kitang tanan adunay kahibalo kung unsa ang pagpangandam sa panahon sa kalamidad. Ang atong gipang conduct na mga trainings katong latest karon bago lang nahuman atong miaging semana apil ang representante gikan sa various offices sa city government of Davao and national agencies, public and private offices kailangan ma-capacitate sila for disaster preparedness,” Baluran said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Wednesday.
Baluran said during the three-day training the participants were taught on basic first aid, and what to do before, during, and after disasters and incidents.
He also said that the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration-Davao (Pagasa-Davao) gave a lecture on weather conditions while the Bureau of Fire Protection -Davao (BFP-Davao) discussed fire prevention, and CDRRMO on rescue and evacuation procedures.
“Ang katong mga participants mudungag to sila sa atoang disaster team kada opisina. Kato sila ang mag guide ug magtudlo sa ilang officemates. Gi-encourage usab nako sila na dili lang officemates ang ilang tudluan pati na ang members sa ilang pamilya,” Baluran said.
