The regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd 11) assured that the 19,988 public teachers who will be deployed for the conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 are committed to fair and honest elections.
Aris B. Juanillo, chief and field technical assistant of DepEd 11, said on Friday that these teachers have undergone training before they are allowed to serve as members of the electoral board.
“Officially, 19,988 public school teachers will be in the limelight next week. Remember the teachers are putting their lives at stake at kahiya-hiya naman ang public school teachers na sasayangin lang nila yung kanilang trabaho simply because of a simple or single centavo. We can assure the public that our Department of Education, specially our teachers, are professionals in handling the upcoming BSKE. Dumaan sa matinding training ang mga teachers bago sila makuha as part of the electoral board. So, we can assure the public an honest and peaceful elections,” Juanillo said during the Kapihan sa PIA at NCCC Victoria Plaza.
He added that DepEd will be working with other national line agencies specially the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure that the teachers can perform their jobs specially since the counting will be manual.
“Sanay na ang mga guro diyan. Ako nga during my early days may pagkakataon na darating ka sa lugar na ganitong oras, aalis ka naman sa ganitong oras but that is part and parcel of being a public servant at alam ng mga guro kung paano i-handle ang situations na ito,” Juanillo said.
