Cebu Landmasters, Inc. president Jose Soberano III assured that the buildings of their project development The Paragon Davao in McArthur Highway are structurally sound following the recent earthquake.
It can be recalled that a crane at the top of one of its towers being constructed collapsed as a strong earthquake jolted the city on November 17, 2023.
“That one na timingan lang gyud to. That crane was about to be dismantled and about to be brought down. It was at that stage that we were loosening things up. That is why when that thing happened it was very easy for us to bring it down,” Soberano told Edge Davao in an interview.
He added that the damage incurred was very minimal.
“Pero ang atong structure is very sound and we can guarantee safe ang building. We have to be always cautious with these things and we have to continue to be very vigilant in terms of safety and security,” he said.
CLI’s joint venture project with the Villa-Abrille family of Davao City, the The Paragon Davao is a P2.6 billion mixed-use development. The 250-unit Citadines Paragon Davao is part of an integrated development that also comprises retail, office, and event spaces.
Phase 1 of The Paragon Davao development includes the 26-storey residential condominium One Paragon Place, the 263-room hotel and serviced residences Citadines Paragon Davao to be managed by The Ascott Limited, one of the world’s leading lodging owner-operators; The Paragon Davao Convention Center, and The Paragon Davao Lifestyle Mall.
“We are targeting to turnover the units about the third quarter of next year. You will see a lot of ongoing fit-outs in the condo unit. We are working round the clock. This will be an addition to the skyline and a real landmark in that area,” Soberano said.
