The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) is coordinating with the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) to smoothen the encoding of the violations in line with the new Speed Limit Ordinance of Davao City on January 11, 2024.

“As of now naa ta’y pakig alayon sa City Treasurer’s Office para sa citation ticket ug para mahapsay na sa pag encode sa mga violations. Kini separate ni nga system nga gihimo para mamonitor nato ang pag implement ani nga city ordinance,” CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Friday.

Motorists violating the new speed limit ordinance will be penalized P1,000 for the first offense, P2,000 for the second, and P5,000 for the third and subsequent offense.

Abude said that the CTTMO is now gearing up for the implementation of the new Speed Limit Ordinance.

He said that the whole month of December last year was focused on signage installations and the distribution of new speed limit fliers.

“Magsugod na karong January 11 pag implementar sa Speed Limit Ordinance of Davao City or Ordinance No. 0270-23 Series of 2023. For the whole month of December naghatag mi ug fliers ug nag install mi ug signages. Dili tanan area nabutangan ug signages pero sa tanan na adunay kabag-ohan sa speed limit nakabutang ta ug hangtod karon nagapadayon ta ug install,” Abude said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Friday.

Under the ordinance, the speed limit for light vehicles will be 80 kph and 50 kph for trucks that are passing through Bunawan-Lasang, Lacson-Buda, and Carabao Monument in Toril-Binugao in Sta Cruz; speed limit for major roads such as from Ulas Crossing to Carabao Monument Waypark, Crossing Panacan-Bunawan Crossing, and within the Davao City Coastal Road will be 60 kph; and 30 kph for all feeder/minor roads branching out of the major roads.

There will be a 40 kph speed limit for tourist streets and 30 kph for trucks. All public subdivisions, barangay, and school zones will have a 20 kph speed limit.

“Bisan pa man nag implementar ta karon January 11 naa man tay repeater na mga signages dapat in every 500 meters naay makita na mga signages with regards sa maong speed limit ug kung asa ang area dunay 30, 40, 60 ug 80,” Abude said.

Abude also said that CTTMO is also coordinating with the traffic enforcers from the CTTMO, the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the implementation of the new ordinance.

In August last year, the City Council approved the speed limit ordinance proposed by Councilor Luna Maria Acosta.
