Davao City Public Safety and Security Office head Angel Sumagaysay bared at least 50,000 people are expected to join the mass launching and peace rally in Davao City on January 28, 2024.
According to its organizers, the mass launching and peace rally is for the “Dabawenyos are not for Sale” campaign that will be held at San Pedro Square.
Sumagaysay said the safety and security cluster is ready and is eyeing to deploy 600 to 700 security personnel including from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
“Naka-meeting na kami with the event manager ug nahatag na nila ilang layout. The other day nagpahigayon ko ug security and safety briefing ug naka anchor ang among security plan doon sa layout ng event organizer. I think naka ready na kami isa na lang ka final coordination meeting,” Sumagaysay said during I-Speak media forum on Thursday.
He said CENRO would immediately clean the venue after the activity.
A road closure will be implemented along San Pedro Street from corner Bolton to corner C.M Recto; San Pedro Street from corner Bolton extension to corner Magallanes and Bolton Street from corner Rizal to corner San Pedro Street starting at 10 p.m. on January 26, 2024, to January 29, 2024.
On January 27, from 8 a.m. to Jan. 29, Anda Street from corner Magallanes Street to corner Rizal St. and Ponciano St. (Crooked road) from corner Rizal St. to corner San Pedro St.; San Pedro corner Anda to San Pedro corner Quirino and Legazpi St. from corner Rizal to corner Magallanes will be temporarily closed.
On Jan. 28, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., roads that will be temporarily closed are C.M Recto corner Marco Polo to corner San Pedro St., the entire length of Roxas Boulevard (one lane -Aldevinco side), and San Pedro extension from corner Quezon Boulevard to corner C.M Recto.
