Chinese nationals to face raps for using pyrotechnics in Davao City

Three Chinese nationals will face charges for violating City Ordinance 060-02 or the Firecrackers Ban of Davao City after using pyrotechnics in welcoming the Chinese New Year early morning of Saturday.

The three suspects are Timothy Tan, a resident of Jackstone Street, Royal Pines Subdivision, Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City; Wang Su, a resident of Purok 10 Beach Poblacion Maco, Davao De Oro, and Thang Su, also a resident of Royal Pines.

Operatives of Talomo Police Station said a concern citizen called their office around 12:06 a.m. of Saturday, February 10, 2024, informing them that a pyrotechnics is being used by a resident of the said subdivision.

Based on the initial investigation, the three Chinese nationals were celebrating Chinese New Year and lit up a pyrotechnics locally called ‘The Big Ben’ at the rented house of Tan at Royal Pines Subdivision. Upon responding, operatives found rounds of pyrotechnics that were already discharged.

According to operatives, the explosions caused fear, discomfort and disturbed the neighborhood.

Authorities are currently preparing the pertinent documents that will be used in filing a case against the three Chinese nationals.
