To strengthen the promotion of the tourism industry in Davao City through tourism plans and programs that are culturally sensitive, eco-friendly, and community-centered, the City Government of Davao has created a Technical Working Group (TWG) through Executive Order No. 06, Series of 2024.
The TWG is responsible for the identification of natural resources that may serve as potential tourist destinations within the city. It is also expected to conduct area inspections to determine if the areas identified have the potential to be tourist destinations, or must be restricted for protection and preservation purposes only.
The TWG shall coordinate with the Barangay Local Government Unit concerned; and with the tribal leaders, Deputy Mayors, and Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative (IPMR) for those within the ancestral domain areas.
The City Administrator’s Office shall sit as the chairperson of the group, while the Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD) shall be its co-chair; while the City Tourism Operations Office shall hold the position of vice chairperson of the TWG.
Meanwhile, the TWG shall be composed of members from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office; City Planning and Development Office; City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; City Engineer’s Office; Public Safety and Security Office; CMO – Office of the Chief of Staff; CMO – City Information Office; CMO – Peace 911; Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Environment and Natural Resources; and Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism and Beautification.
