The Social Security System-Davao (SSS-Davao) is intensifying its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign against delinquent employers.
Dennis Calo, acting senior communications analyst of SSS-Davao Mindanao South 1 Division, said on Monday that unlike the previous wherein RACE was conducted once a year, SSS-Davao opted to now do it monthly as it was seen to has potential in terms of collections of the SSS contributions.
RACE is an operation conducted by the state fund to ensure that employers comply with their obligation as stipulated in Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.
“Ang atuang RACE campaign permanente na ni siya unlike before na once a year lang. However, kay nakitaan man ni ug potential nga dako ug natabang sa pagkolekta sa atuang delinquent employers mao ato na siyang gihimo karon ug every month,” Calo said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao on Monday.
He said there are schedules already for next month’s RACE campaign until December 2024.
“Kaning atong aktibidad sa RACE campaign is surprise. Gihimo nato ug per month aron mas matutukan ug maayo ang mga employers na mga delinquent sa ilahang contributions or delinquent sa pagreport sa ilahang mga businesses,” Calo said.
He said with or without RACE campaign, SSS accounts officers are constantly monitoring delinquent companies under their jurisdiction.
Part of their monitoring is issuing the statement of account, if employers still do not comply, they issue a billing letter, and 15 days after employers received the billing letter and if there is still no compliance from them SSS will file with its legal department for the issuance of the demand letter, after the demand letter a case will be filed if the employers still do not comply.
“Kaning atung RACE campaign atua ning ginapaningkamutan aron ma-remind ang tagsa tagsa ka employer labi na katong delinquent na nga makabayad sila o mabuhat nila ang ilang obligasyon ngadto sa ilang mga empleyado,” Calo said.
Calo reported that on April 30, 2024, the branches of SSS-Davao conducted a R.A.C.E campaign, visited 98 employers, and collected around P56,741,463.73.
The branches of SSS-Davao under the Mindanao South Division 1 are Davao branch, Davao-Ilustre branch , Davao-Toril Branch, Panabo branch, Tagum branch, Digos City branch, Mati City branch , and Bislig branch.
The SSS RACE team visited retailers, sales, manufacturing, hotels, motels, construction, and other businesses.
Meanwhile, 13 establishments were visited by the SSS-Davao during RACE operation in Mati City on May 2, 2024, due to non-compliance of these establishments with Republic Act 11199 or better known as the “Social Security Act of 2018.”
These establishments, including general merchandise stores, beach resorts, pharmacies, and restaurants, have reportedly failed to remit employee contributions to the SSS.
