A total of 73,336 Grades 1, 2, and 3 learners from public schools in the province of Cotabato received the Essential Health Care Package (EHCP) distributed by the provincial government on Wednesday.
The EHCP contains 500ml toothpaste with 1500ppm fluoride and germicidal soap.
The ceremonial turnover of the EHCP was held at the Kibudtungan Central Elementary School in the town of Carmen, Cotabato Province witnessed by Board member Joemar Cerebo.
Present during the distribution of EHCP were Municipal Councilor Anathy Naquitquitan representing of Mayor Rogelio Taliño and Ella Taliño Taray representing 3rd District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha T. Santos, Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) head Dr. Eva C. Rabaya, and representative from the Department of Education 12 (DepEd 12).
The EHCP program is funded by IPHO in collaboration with the Department of Education, League of Provinces of the Philippines, and Fit for School Inc.
Ensuring children’s health is among the priority programs of Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” T. Mendoza emphasizing the importance of health to their academic performance and cultivating their full potential.
“Dahil dito sa probinsya ng Cotabato, mahal namin ang mga bata,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza also said it is her advocacy under “Serbisyong Totoo” of establishing programs that provide general protection to children to shape their knowledge and skills that will contribute to the development of the province.
