LTO 11: Coding system could be an option to help decongest traffic

Land Transportation Office 11 (LTO 11) Director lawyer Ernesto Raphael Robillo floated the idea on Wednesday of using a coding system during rush hours as an option to be studied to help decongest traffic in Davao City.

“That could probably be an option that can be studied to decongest traffic in Davao because this is already implemented in Manila, maybe we can do it here in Davao as well. Di ba sa Manila inimplement nila yung coding,” Robillo said.

This is Robillo’s response when asked about his reaction to the survey made by international traffic surveyor TomTom Traffic Index (TTI) ranking Davao City as the 8th most congested city in the world, surpassing Metro Manila which ranked 14th place.

Robillo added that they could come up with the statistics and see which areas there are gridlocks or severe traffic congestion and choose the vehicle that should be allowed to use the roads during rush hours.

“From then on seguro we could submit to our local government, sa ating mga konsehal ang aming recommendations so that they could come up with solution like coding such as during rush hour at piliin lang natin yung puwedeng tumakbo sa kalsada,” he said.

Meanwhile, LTO 11 shared their 2024 accomplishments report in the Davao Region wherein it has been able to generate a total revenue collection of P1,532,030,540.67. It has a total of 978,891 registrations.

LTO 11 has issued a total of 294,070 licenses and permits, handled a total of 380,001 license transactions, and handled a total of 58,111 apprehension and settled cases.

LTO 11 has also received a total of 55,014 apprehension cases wherein 30,634 were from deputized personnel and 28,380 were from LTO 11 enforcers.
