There are times that we are prevented from expressing ourselves. Apart from us just confining to what we believe. Sometimes, we give ideas just to please others.
Let’s not forget that we always have the option to express and love ourselves.
This is what the art exhibition “There are No Boundaries” by Provenance Art Gallery wants to convey.
Attending the private viewing of the “There Are No Boundaries” art exhibition of the Provenance Art Gallery at the roof deck level of Damosa Diamond Tower in Damosa IT Park on November 24, 2023 was indeed a privilege.
I gazed in awe as soon as I entered the venue. It was like I’d been transported to another realm. I have been invited to art exhibitions here in Davao City, but this definitely has a unique appeal to me.
Like me, art lovers, Davao socialites, and the curious crowd attended the private viewing to see what Provenance’s artworks are all about.
Provenance Art Gallery and Damosa Land (DLI) Inc.’s art exhibit showcased more than 80 masterpieces from some of the country’s most coveted artists namely: Andres Barrioquinto, Anton del Castillo, Archie Geotina, Arturo Sanchez Jr., Arnel Natividad, Aubrey Caabay, Aubrey Fajardo, Blaise Zamora, Brave Singh, Ces Eugenio, Clark Manalo, Dex Fernandez, Genious B.O.R.T.A., IS Jumalon, Iya Consorio-Barrioquinto, Jason Montinola, Jeffrey Ordillo, Jep Dizon, JP Duray, Katrina Cuenca, Kim Hamilton Sulit, Mark Dawn Arcamo, Mark Rocha Padernal, Martin Honasan, Paolo Icasas, Renato “Jojo” Barja, and WIPO.
“We want to introduce these artists to Davao and also introduce the Davao community to these Manila artists,” said Ricardo “Cary” F. Lagdameo, president of DLI.
The artworks were fascinating especially those pieces that seem to speak and touch your soul. The feeling of looking at each art piece is indescribable.
“The reason why we wanted to do an art show in Davao is because we want to expand our horizon outside of Manila with the help of our great partner Damosa Land, Pearl Farm Beach Resort, and LBC, we were able to put this terrific show. We want to get to know the Davao crowd, expose them to more Filipino contemporary art, and introduce some of the amazing Manila artists that we have,” said Emilio Preysler Dizon, Provenance Art Gallery director.
“There Are No Boundaries” is not just the usual art exhibition as a portion of its sales will be for the benefit of the Down Syndrome Association and the children with cancer at the House of Hope Foundation.
The exhibition has not only redefined Davao’s contemporary art experience but has also showcased the roof deck of Damosa Diamond Tower. The place is an ideal venue for art exhibitions and other events.
“The venue is perfect for such events like this,” said Lagdameo, who is an art collector himself.
A work of art itself, the 17-story Damosa Diamond Tower features crops as inspiration for the design of the exterior of the building, which resembles banana and abaca fibers that look like waves from the distance.
