Look around you, there’s too many things that remind us of Christmas in the city. The streets, the malls, and the communities are decorated with Christmas ornaments and festive lights.
Amidst all that, nothing can be better than spending the holidays somewhere quiet and cold.
Montefrio Garden Resort in Sitio Mainit, Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur promises a magical time this Holiday Season.
The rain didn’t dampen the holiday spirit as Montefrio Garden Resort lighted up its Christmas installations to kick off the yuletide season on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
The Santorini-inspired resort, which is sprawling at the highest point of this hilly barangay, over 4,000 feet above sea level to be exact, is a perfect place to spend a chilly and breezy Christmas.
Amid the hustle and bustle in the city, we all deserve a breath of fresh air while waiting for Christmas Day.
This season of joy, Montefrio will treat clients to its holiday specialties and festive treats: a Christmas buffet for noche buena on Christmas eve and a media noche special on New Year’s eve. A grand fireworks display will also happen on December 24 and 31.
A perfect holiday getaway where you will enjoy delicious sweets, hot tsokolate, and coffee while being serenaded with live acoustic performances.
My first visit at MonteFrio, which translates to “cold mountain,” was in 2021 when the world was still in the grip of the pandemic. It was with family and friends. The resort was already teeming with people who, like us, were also looking for a respite amid the pandemic.
The resort was a fantastic destination for a family break. We enjoyed the cool weather, the view of the mountains, the swimming pool, the flowers, and the food.
My recent visit was more exciting. The view is still amazing. However, more facilities can now be enjoyed at MonteFrio.
The former flower bed was now transformed into a charming coffee shop, the Café Frio.
MonteFrio opened its doors to the public on July 8, 2020. It was originally built as a private rest house of the owner turned into a resort that promises guests a remarkable stay infused with modern comfort and the exquisite beauty of mother nature.
It houses a modest array of amenities including a refreshing pool with the view of the mountains, a delightful restaurant, luxurious suite-type accommodations that exude an air of lavishness as well as barkada-style rooms designed for comfort.
It has 13 villa rooms, one family room, three superior rooms and three barkada rooms.
I had the opportunity to stay at one of its superior rooms and it was priceless. Due to the very cool weather, I snoozed like a baby and was rewarded with a fantastic hilly view in the morning and enjoyed the hazy mist creating an ideal time only for me.
The breakfast buffet is also homey.
Other amenities are karaoke stations, function rooms for all occasions, open cottages for eating and tent pitching.
Whether you’re looking to spend the holidays cozied up by a cool weather or watching the misty fog hugging the mountains, MonteFrio is definitely your highland escape this Christmas.
