Results of the ballistic examination on the bullets used in the killing of Panabo-based publisher Dennis Denora indicated that the bullets came from a gun used in five other slaying cases in the Davao region, according to a task force established to get at the roots of Denora’s killing.
“Based on the ballistic results, the bullets used came from a caliber .45 handgun,” said P/Supt. Louwe A. Padillo of Task Force Denora on Monday.
“They (bullets) all came from the same gun,” added P/Supt. Alan Manibog, provincial director of Davao del Norte.
The two police officers said they were following up leads that may hopefully lead to the solution of the Denora case. But they declined to say if they have several persons of interest that are the objects of their investigation.
They could not also say if the triggerman/triggermen are home-grown or if they are “imported” from outside the region.
They said they are also not prepared to reveal the motive behind the killing of Denora.
“Please bear with us because by completing the evidences we may be able to pinpoint also who is behind the killing of Denora,” Manibog said, adding that the pieces of evidence should be able to stand in court.
At the same time, Padillo appealed to those who were with Denora just hours before he was gunned down to submit themselves to the task force for interview in case they have pertinent information that could help solve the killing.
The police officer said Denora was with a group of his fraternal brothers watching an NBA finals game, just hours before he was killed.
The task force also encouraged members of the Davao del Norte press community to immediately notify the task force in case of perceived threats to their lives.
The task force it said would be able to give an updated report and reveal more information this coming Friday. (JKL)
