There’s always a prize to every hard work.
For the Davao City Durians, it’s their four-peat conquest in the secondary boys basketball of the 2019 Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) Gym.
By posting a lopsided 90-73 victory over the Digos City Trekkers in Saturday’s finals, the Durians will give another shot to the forthcoming 2019 Palarong Pambansa at homeground this April.
Prolific forward Vince Petdeo Cuajao of Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) propelled the pack with a game-high 30 points while Davao Jones Academy (DJA) guard Askiah Echavia made it rain from down town, dropping five bombs from beyond the arc to finish with a huge 21 points in the title-clinching victory.
Preventing the Durians to win by more than 30 points is definitely enough consolation for Digos City.
Remembering their silver finish in the national level last year, everyone is much excited on what will the Davao City cagers bring this time around.
“Duol-duol nalang ang Palaro, so pag human diri, diretso na mi training balik,” Davao City head coach Nestor “Tating” Sorrosa, in a post-game interview with Edge Davao.
Completing the Davao City Durians are Emilano Escalera, Jay Villaflores, Froilan Tingabngab, Ralf Bernhard Panto, Rommel Mercado, James Paolo Manigo and Aeron Jeswill Awe of HCCD, Steven Lee Cordova and Angelo Paul Escalona of DJA and Miguelito Manuel of Lamb of God Sped Academy (LGSA) with assistant coach Roger Rabago.
