Mepranum gets another title shot

Filipino fighter Richie “Magnum” Mepranum of Sarangani province will fight undefeated Lodumo Lamati of South Africa for the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental super bantamweight title on July 28, at the Orient Theatre in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The 32-year-old Mepranum (34W-7L-1D, 9KO) recently won by a majority decision over Sen Chen of China last June 1 in Wynn Palace Cotai in Macao, China.

Mepranum is on a three-way winning streak starting with a 2nd round knockout of Jestonie Makiputin of Davao del Sur on March 25, 2018.
He followed it up with a majority decision over Rodel Tejares of Bukidnon last July 29, 2018. Lamati, 27 (15W-0L-1D, 9KO) beat Brayan Mairena of Nicaragua on points last March 17 in the United Kingdom.

He won the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental super bantamweight title by unanimous decision over Luis Melendez of Colombia last 2017.

Lamati retained the title with a unanimous decision over Alexis Boureima Kabore.

Meanwhile, Sive Nontshina (7W-0L, 7KO) of South Africa defends his IBF International light flyweight title against compatriot Siyabonga Siyo (12W-2L-0D, 4KO) in the undercard. (PNA)
