The 2024 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet has officially opened at the Davao City-UP Mindanao Sports Complex in Mintal, Davao City on Monday afternoon.
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, together with some provincial and local government units officials, graced the opening.
This year’s DAVRAA Meet, which carries the theme “1 Team 1 Dream, Shaping Filipinos Sports Champion,” is participated by 7,835 athletes from Davao City, Mati City, Panabo City, Tagum City, Digos City, Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental.
“What an inspiring theme we have embraced for this event, it captures the essence of what it means to be an athlete. Teamwork, dedication, and the relentless pursuit for excellence,” the vice president said in her inspirational message.
“Ayaw mo ug kalimot na kamo Dabawenyo and you will fly, you will soar, you will fight and you will win, mga Dabawenyos,” she added.
The 2024 DAVRAA will have 29 competitive events and will be held in 24 venues.
