Compostela Valley Province—In line with the celebration of the Cooperative Month 2018 the provincial government of Compostela Valley under Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy through the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAGRO) in partnership with the Provincial Cooperative Union (PCU) holds a “Provincial Cooperative Summit and Coop Caravan 2018” at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province on October 26, 2018.
This year’s theme: “Cooperatives: Partners for Building Resilient and Empowered Communities Towards a Better and Stronger Philippines.”
With more than seven-hundred officers, leaders and members of the different cooperatives in the entire province of Compostela Valley gathered at the summit area wearing their blue unity t-shirts as a symbol for unity of cooperative movement of the Philippines.
The summits were well represented by the Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC) together with their Municipal Cooperative Development Officer (MCDO) of the eleven municipality of the province.
Gracing also the program were the provincial officials led by Board Member Macario Humol representing Gov. Uy, together with Mr. Roberto U Padilla – PCU Comval Chairperson, Ms. Elma R. Oguis, CSEE – Regional Director, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA XI) and the PAGRO officials and employees.
During the program there is a launching of the “Koop Kapatid Program” as well as the summit presentation on Federalism in the Philippines and Its Prospects to the Economy.
Meanwhile, on the plenary session the resolution no. 1 – a resolution expressing gratitude to Congress of the Philippines for retaining the tax exemption to cooperatives in R.A. 9520 during the TRAIN 1 enactment and the resolution no. 2 – a resolution requesting Congress of the Philippines to sustain the said tax exemption to cooperatives in R.A. 9520 in any future tax law amendments was approved unanimously by the participants and members of the said summit.
Manny Buladaco – Supervising CDS, Division Chief of Cooperative Division of PAGRO expressed his gratitude to all officers and members of the different coops as well as the officials of the province who supported and participated for the success of the event.
