The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has vowed to finish by year-end the first phase of facility repairs at the Davao International Airport.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade told a press conference on Thursday that partial repairs of the international airport will be concentrated on air condition facilities and toilets.
Tugade added that other repairs such as passenger lounges and further phases of aircon repairs will be finished by mid-2017.
“It is included in the reported P108.19 billion Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project for maintenance of five regional airports,” Tugade pointed out, adding that there will be a total of 37 units of package-type air condition to be installed.
He saw the urgency for repair of DIA as Miss Universe contestants and organizers will be coming to Davao for the January event and that they are also preparing for long-term repairs.
Tugade added that the economic group is already looking through adaptation of Aquino’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project.
Proper implementation of existing PPP projects is also being observed to help shorten the decision process for other projects, Tugade said.
