A photo of aged women was chosen from among the close to 200 entries in the Hulagway photo contest for the Araw ng Dabaw 2017.

“Kaway Nanay”, a photo by veteran photographer Jesus Tinapay, paid tribute to elderly Dabawenyos as they took the centerstage during the celebration held last March.

Tinapay braved the scorching heat during the Parada Dabawenyo last March 16 to be able to capture the moment.

The photo also perfectly captured the central theme of the celebration — Davao City’s journey the past 80 years.

Tinapay will receive a cash prize of P 15,000 for his winning photo.
