Public asked to abide by security measures

The Police Regional Office 11 has urged the public to cooperate with the tight security measures implemented by law enforcers in the region due to possible retaliation of the fallen Maute Group.

PRO 11 spokesperson Chief Insp. Andrea G. Dela Cerna said although Davao Region is generally peaceful, law enforcers are not discounting the possibility of spill-over in the region following the death of two Maute leaders.

“Yung mga suspicious personalities, vehicles, bags and luggage na unattended, basta po tayo ay nagduda anything po na kakaiba at hindi po ordinary , kapit bahay niyo po na hindi niyo naman kilala at napapansin ninyo na meron silang ginagawa na di kanais-nasi na activity ipagbigay alam niyo agad sa amin. Napaka laking tulong po yung ganyang sa atin po (Those suspicious personalities, vehicles and unattended bags ang luggage, anything you suspect unusual and not ordinary , neighbor that you don’t even know and you noticed they do any suspicious activity, report that to us immediately. It’s a big for us),” Dela Cerna said.

She said the cooperation of the public will help them prevent any possible terror attack in the region that might harm people. Dela Cerna said all police units are directed to secure all vital installations and places of convergence in the region and conduct stringent security measures.

Earlier, Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) spokesperson Maj. Ezra L. Balagtey bared that their unit is tightening its security measures in all areas under their command to avoid any reprisal from Maute Group.

Balagtey said the tightening of security will include the “intensification of security operations” especially in the areas of convergence such as malls and places of worships. There will be stricter conduct of checkpoints in some areas to ensure the safety of all citizens in the region.
