PDEA sets ablaze P11M illegal drugs

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 in Davao del Norte led the burning of about P11 million worth of illegal drugs at the RDR Gym in Tagum City, Tuesday morning.

PDEA – Davao del Norte provincial officer Caludito Cañada bared that the illegal drugs burned were evidences on cases accumulated and promulgated upon by the courts.

“We made this destruction of illegal drugs and non-illegal drugs evidences to remove the doubts of everyone that we recycled these illegal drugs evidence,” he said.

Cañada said the burned illegal drugs consisted of 962 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride known as shabu which has a street value of P11.5 million, 1.2kilos of marijuana worth P48,400 and 7.5 grams of cocaine worth P45,000.

He said the PDEA 11 is thankful with the campaign of President Rodrigo R. Duterte on the fight against illegal drugs because aside from the operations, there are also interventions on the part of drug users.

Davao del Norte has the most number of cleared-barangays in Davao region with 33, followed by Davao Occidental with 22, Davao Oriental 20, Davao del Sur 19 and Compostela Valley 18.

The PDEA regional office will also burn around P2 million worth of illegal drugs in Davao City and Panabo City, Davao del Norte on the last week of November. The illegal drugs which will be destroyed will also include the expired medicines surrendered to their office by the pharmacies.
