The Davao chapter of the Junior Chamber International has launched its search on Wednesday at Habi at Kape for the Most Outstanding High School Graduate in Davao City.
Shandy Michael Sy , JCI Davao program chair said, on its 51st year, the Search for the Most Outstanding High School Graduate of Davao recognizes deserving high school graduates who exemplify academic excellence, community involvement and exemplary leadership.
“The invitations for the nominees for the MOHSG were already sent to different participating private and public schools in Davao city and we just need one nominee per school,” said Sy.
According to Sy, MOHGS is the most prestigious search in its category; nominees will use their knowledge, skills and talent, not just to get the title of Most Outstanding High School Graduate but also to make a contribution to their communities.
Sy said that, in order to qualify, a nominee must undergo a stringent selection process through a series of activities, to include, the presentation of academic and leadership achievement portfolio, by exhibiting their oral communication skills through a panel interview, and through the use of their skills and knowledge in contributing to the solution to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
The fourth activity is by public speaking in the culminating event.
According to Sy, the MOHSG inspired youth to aspire for curricular and extra-curricular excellence, and to apply their skills, talents and knowledge to create positive change in their respective communities.
“This December 9 nominees will gather at Rica Glad Catering and Function Hall for an orientation and enrichment session as they will be trained on how to design and implement sustainable projects with impact, “he said.
He added that the culmination is on March 27, 2018 at Abreeza mall Activity Center where the finalist will compete in the Self-Introductory and Impromptu Speaking Contest and the overall winner shall be chosen based on the cumulative scores from the activities of the search by panel of judges composed of notable members of the local community.
“MOHSG application for nominees is available online and no need to submit it personally, “he said.
