TOURISM BOOSTER: Dad says of martial law extension

Davao City Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre on Tuesday said the extension of martial law is expected to improve further law and order in Mindanao.

“In the end, it will impact on tourism and as more people adopt to martial law, tourism arrivals and investments will increase,” he said.

“As one of the City Councilors I have no opposition with regards to the extension of martial law, we do not have any bad experience on martial law anyway,” he said.

Alejandre said that the extension of martial law is part of a long-term solution to ending terrorist activities in Mindanao.

Alejandre, who heads the committee on tourism, said the extension of martial law will mean more tourists and investments.

He said that as experienced in Mindanao, martial law in fact is boosting tourism and investments during the first six months of 2017.

“I’m happy that people have adopted to martial law judging by the increase of tourism arrivals this year,” he said.

Alejandre said that the proposed one-year extension of martial law in Mindanao is expected to attract more investors, especially in Davao City.
“If they say that extending martial law is a negative no, because the President wanted to achieve a peaceful living here in Mindanao.

He said that if martial law will be extended in Davao City security measures will be strengthened making the city a good place to travel. .

“There’s no need to be worried and I am appealing to  foreign countries and embassies not to issue a travel advisory in Davao, I would reiterate this that the president wanted a long solution for the everyone, he knows pretty well what would be good here in Mindanao since this is his home,” he said.
