Comelec 11 calls on politicians: no early campaigning

The regional office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec 11) called on politicians not to campaign early even if they have already filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

“Just be fair. Antayin na lang natin yung campaign period para po mangampanya. Let’s not take the opportunity nga nag-file ngayon eh magka-kampanya, early campaigning na. Although hindi naman bawal yan sa batas but we have the moral obligation to our constituents at sundin natin kung ano yung sinabi ng batas,” said Lawyer Michael Abas, regional director of Comelec, in a statement.

Regarding on the peace and order, Abas stated that there were no untoward incidents reported since the filing of the COCs from October 1, 2021 to October 8, 2021.

“Generally peaceful. And we are thankful to the PNP and the AFP for their assistance in seeing to it that yung activity po natin from October 1 to 8, 2021, ay maging maayos, particularly in Davao del Norte,” he stated.

In terms for the general situation, Abas added that it will be the same as the last 2019 election, although, only few supports accompanied their candidates.

“We’ll it’s almost the same because we we’re so lucky that everyone cooperated. Medyo peculiar today because what we call of “new normal” so kukunti lang yung pumunta para samahan yung kanilang kandidato. Overall, halos pareho lang po,” he said.
