Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno is collaborating with Davao Region’s security forces on plans to enhance strategic measures to combat local terrorists.
Secretary Magno met with the police and military officers for security briefings in Davao City.
Officials of the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11), Task Force Davao (TF Davao), and AFP’s Eastern Mindanao Command separately briefed Magno on the security situation and plans in the region.
The briefing aims to strengthen the partnership for unity, peace, and development of the security forces in the Davao Region.
“It is good to know that Davao Region is safe and secured from all kinds of threats. The men and women of our police and military have been doing their job round the clock and the plans presented can be labeled as “reassuring”,” Sec. Magno told Edge Davao.
It can be recalled that Magno was recently appointed as the Cabinet Officer for Regional Developments and Security (CORDS) for Southern Mindanao.
Magno is now the CORDS for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflicts (NTF-ELCAC). He will be helping in strengthening the government’s fight against insurgency.
In October 2022, members of the Regional Peace and Order Council–Davao (RPOC-11) signed a resolution declaring the entire region as cleared of insurgents as of September 19, 2022.
The declaration came after the five-province Region 11 was declared to have been cleared out of the New People’s Army (NPA) by their respective provincial and city peace and order councils.
In March of the same year, Davao City was declared insurgency-free, followed by Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte in June, Davao del Sur in July, Davao Occidental in August, and Davao Oriental in September.
