To cultivate entrepreneurship in the region through franchising, Davao City held a franchising fair on May 12-14 at Abreeza Mall of Davao.
Organized by the Philippine Franchise Association , “Franchising Negosyo Para sa Davao” showcased different franchising businesses in the fields of food, retail and service.
The expo served as the venue for business matching opportunities for both the business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs/would-be franchisees to meet with potential partners.
“The goal of this event is to promote franchising as a tool for economic development. Franchising is a powerful investment of growth. It provides MSMEs (micro, small, medium enterprises) opportunities to grow their business even with limited resources,” said PFA President Dr. Alan Escalona during his message on the event’s opening held on Friday.
According to Escalona, the future of franchising in the Philippines is greatly progressive following the fact that almost 70 per cent of franchise brands here in the country are homegrown.
Furthermore, Escalona also expressed that holding the franchise show in Davao is a part of their efforts to sustain the role of franchising in a regional level in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy of federalism.
“Franchising stimulates economic activity in regions. Our president and Davao’s son is an advocate of decentralizing economic activity from the capital to the periphery. Hence, we expect franchising to play a greater role in opening opportunities in the regions.”
