In response to the rapid construction boom, and growing demands for advance machinery in Mindanao, the Davao Contractors Association Center Incorporated (DCACI) announced on Tuesday’s business forum at Dermapath SM Ecoland, the upcoming 8th PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao, that will serve as a match-making platform, easily connecting contractors to equipment purveyors.
“DCACI President Michael Te said that the construction show is also a reply to President Rodrigo Duterte’s ‘Build, build, build’ program that presented loads of infrastructure projects in the city.
“40% of the National Budget for Infrastructure goes to Mindanao; 40% of that goes to Davao City and we need to buy equipment suited for the projects,” he said.
Global Link Chief Executive Officer Patrick Tan said that the 60-70% assurance in the return of investment to participants explains the 20% increase in the number of participants in this year’s exhibit.
“Contractors and suppliers were able to create a database, rapport and meet as often as they need [to conduct business.]” He said.
He also said that the foreign investors for the development of Davao’s Infrastructure are well-informed on the parameters of Martial Law in the city and unintimidated with the declaration.
Besides the equipment exhibit, there will be group discussion on construction tips dubbed as “amo seminar” involving firm owners to update and re-teach them topics from construction safety to site responsibilities and mandates, in time for their Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board re-licensing.
The biggest building and construction show to be held in Davao City is set to exhibit 77 heavy equipment and machineries, carrying almost 500 top brands for construction tools and building materials, from both local and foreign contractors from countries including Germany, Europe, China, Japan and South Korea.
