Indonesia showcases 24 products in expo

Twenty four exhibitors from Indonesia displayed different Indonesian products during the three-day 1st Indonesian Fashion Expo held at Abreeza Mall Activity Center on Friday, and last until Sunday.

“There are 24 Indonesian designer and business owners. We bring them here for you so there is no need for you to spend your time and resources in going to Indonesia,” said Berlian Napitupulu, Consulate General for Indonesia.

Napitupulu said the idea for the fashion expo is part of their office’s initiative of improving the bilateral trade relationship between Indonesia and the Philippines.

“The Expo will showcase Indonesia’s top export fashion products such as garments, bags, shoes and accessories,” said Napitupulu

“This event is the biggest and last Expo that we organize for this year here in Davao City,” He said.

Napitupulu said the expo sought to bring to Davao 24 companies and exhibitors to display their products.

The second objective is to hold business matching, fashion show, and cultural performances.

The third objective is to gain access to the Filipino market with a long term outcome, and with high expectancy for business ties-up between Indonesia and business sector.

He said that these Expo and promotional activities are part of ongoing trade links between Mindanao and the eastern part of Indonesia for the Davao-Bitung sea connectivity to flourish and to be sustained.

He also added trade expo is designed to boost trade relations between Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as to spur interest in doing business with Indonesia.

“On the fashion expo, they will showcase different textiles, garments, bags, leather products, shoes, and accessories. During the expo, there will also be business matching that we will be conducting,” Napitupulu said.

He added the fashion designers and entrepreneurs will mostly be coming from Java Island and Bali but have before invited participants from Sulawesi as well.

“Batik is not cheap but it is customize to local it is a master piece handmade it was design one by one,” he said.

Napitupulu said the fashion expo is expected to attract the Muslim fashion market as there is a lot of Muslim in Davao City as well.

“This is a good opportunity for them, not to go to Indonesia, spend their time, and spend their money. I sincerely hope the exhibitors and trade visitors will take this golden opportunity to widen the horizon of their businesses, especially Mindanao markets,” he said.
