The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Davao del Norte has recently confirmed City Ordinance 31-17 otherwise known as the 2017 Revised Traffic Code of Panabo City.
According to Public Transportation Committee Chair Datu Ariel S. Macla, the revision of the existing traffic code had to be enacted as the previous one has limited the operation of the concerned executive departments in regulating traffic violations.
In this Code, it has increased the penalty for traffic violators with a minimum penalty of P300.
For Colorum Motorized PUV tricycles, the penalty has been increased from P150 to P2500 plus impoundment for three months.
Non-display of fare matrix or the official taripa will be fined P500 while overcharging of fares and refusal to render service/transportation imposes a penalty of P800.
Meanwhile, the Local Chief Executive, Mayor James G. Gamao, has issued an Executive Order creating Task Force Transpubliko to address the public transportation and traffic concerns in the city, and to properly enforce the penalties as provided in the ordinance.
As of today, a complaint may be filed before the Traffic Management Unit at Panabo Gym or through the Facebook account of the City Government Panabo. (PIO)
