The Quran is perhaps one of the most controversial books of all time. This book has been burned, cursed upon and being prayed over by Islamophobes the world over due to their belief that this book is pure evil and some are bolder to say that it is of Satanic origin. Nothing is farther from the truth than what these people say about the book that is the literal successor to the gospel of Jesus.
We’ve talked about some virtues of the Quran and clarified many of the misconceptions about its teachings but in order to further our argument, let us delve deeper into the contents of the Quran. Let us look deeper into the scientific miracles of the Quran that you may not believe in totally if you are not a Muslim, but this is something definitely good to know.
THE QURAN ITSELF IS A MIRACLE
Before we start enumerating some interesting facts about the scientific miracles of the Quran, you must know that Allah revealed the Quran as a miracle itself. Allah said in the Quran,“Indeed We have sent down the Quran and indeed We shall be its protectors.” Quran 15: 9
Allah sent the Quran as a final testament to mankind and after Prophet Muhammad, Allah shall not send any more prophet. Because of this, Allah has meant that the Quran shall remain in its pristine form in order for it to be a constant reminder and a guidance for all the generations of mankind to come after its revelation until the Judgement Day.
The Quran is also being called, ‘The Eternal Miracle’, because of this. Quran during the time of prophet Muhammad and the Quran today and until the end of time shall remain the same down to every single letter of it. The Quran during the time of Prophet Muhammad and what we have today are the same. Also, the Quran in the Philippines, in America, Africa and everywhere in the world is one and the same. In comparison, the different people around the world differ as to which version of the Bible is the true Bible as there thousands of versions of the Bible. Also, it has been known that the Bible has been changed through the ages and has gone through different revisions.
We are not even mentioning the changes that happened through different translations of the Bible. The Quran has been translated into different languages but the original Quran remains the same in Arabic while the original gospel in the Aramaic language of Jesus is nowhere to be found.
THE QURAN ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EMBRYO
Allah said in the Quran,“We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance).” Qur’an, 23:12-14
Professor Keith L. Moore, one of the world’s most prominent scientists in the fields of anatomy and embryology and is the author of the book entitled The Developing Human said,“It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Qur’an about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have been a messenger of God.”
He also said,“At first I was astonished by the accuracy of the statements that were recorded in the 7th century AD before the science of embryology was established.”
Keith L. Moore is not a Muslim and yet he is astonished to see the detailed description of the Quran regarding the stages of the development of the human embryo inside the womb.
It is interesting to note that human understanding of Embryology was only the result of the invention of the microscope by Leeuwenhoek in 1677 when he became the first scientist to observe human spermatozoa. Before this, humans believe that a miniature human is being deposited into the womb and this grows inside until it is born.
THE QURAN ON THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE
Allah said in the Quran, “Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke.” Quran 41:11
Scientists have likened the origin of the universe and even the creation of heavenly bodies as having originated from a homogenous cloud of gas that Allah has described in the Quran as smoke. This very accurate description of the origin of the universe in the Quran has fascinated Dr. Alfred Kroner of the Institute of Geosciences at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany. He said,
“Thinking where Muhammad came from …I think it is almost impossible that he could have known about things like the common origin of the universe, because scientists have only found out within the last few years, with very complicated and advanced technological methods, that this is the case.”
He also said, “Somebody who did not know something about nuclear physics fourteen hundred years ago could not, I think, be in a position to find out from his own mind, for instance, that the earth and the heavens had the same origin.”
THE QURAN ON THE MOUNTAINS
Not much thought has been given to the structure of the mountains until scientists have proven that mountains indeed have roots that go farther down than their actual height above the ground much. Professor Frank Press in his book, Earth has explained this in detail the same way Allah said in the Quran,
“Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs?” Quran 78-7
Frank Press is not the only one who confirmed this. In 1865, Astronomer, Sir George Airy introduced this theory. After the introduction of the plate tectonics or the movement of Earth’s ground, Quranic verses also hold truth as mountains play a role in stabilizing Earth’s crust. Allah also said,
“And He has set firm mountains in the earth so that it would not shake with you.” Quran 16:15.
