Tagum, Sto. Tomas top Kadagayaan Fest

Tagum City and the Municipality of Sto. Tomas both won the Best Dressed Booth for the LGU Category in the Agri-Aqua Exhibit Contest highlighting the Kadagayaan Festival 2017.

The two LGUs, which represented Districts 1 and 2, respectively bagged the top prize of Php 100,000 cash prize.

The Municipalities of Talaingod and B.E. Dujali shared the second spot (Php 80,000 each) and the Municipality of Asuncion and the City of Panabo as third placers (Php 60,000 each).

The Mango Industry Council won the Best Commodity Council Booth with Php 50,000 cash prize, Cooperatives of Davao del Norte placed second (Php 40,000), Cavendish Industry Council-third placer (Php 30,000), Local Banana Industry Council-fourth place (Php 20,000) and the Rice Industry Council on the fifth slot (Php 10,000).

Talaingod Municipality garnered 20,000 pesos (1st place) for the Urban Gardening Design Contest, followed by Tagum City as second placer (Php 15,000), and Asuncion National High School on the third place (Php 10,000).

Non-winning entries from the three categories received consolation prizes worth Php 40,000, Php 5,000 and Php 5,000, respectively.

Governor Anthony del Rosario in his speech reminded everybody that the province’s success over the past five decades does not only rely on the abundant crop yield but also owing to the rich diverse culture that DavNor proudly conserves.

“With our theme, “Bulawanong Paghinumdum, Bulawanong Panlantaw,” this year’s Kadagayaan Festival is more than just celebrating our heritage and bountiful harvest. It is about honouring our special history and identity that bind us as one Province”, the governor bared.

The seven days trade fair spearheaded by the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (PAGRO) aimed to showcase various and proudly Dabaonon products, as well as high-value and export quality crops that made the province known in international markets.

Kadagayaan Festival is truly a celebration of bountiful harvest and rich natural resources as the province proudly displayed all these agricultural crops and local products in celebration of the weeklong Araw ng Davao del Norte’s Golden jubilee.
