The first-ever packaged water in a carton launched in the Philippines.
Guided by a commitment to encourage consumers to support sustainable initiatives and to provide environmentally-friendly options for their day-to-day choices, GenerationHOPE, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Tetra Pak teamed up to offer the first drinking water packed in cartons to Filipino consumers with the launch of Hope in a Box.
With Hope in a Box, social enterprise HOPE now expands its packaging portfolio to include carton packages for their purified drinking water giving consumers more options in making a positive contribution to the community since 100% of profits from the sale of Hope in a Box will go to building of public school classrooms nationwide.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will be the first to make Hope in a Box available to consumers by offering it in all their stores nationwide. Through their collaborative partnership with HOPE, the brand requested for an alternative for the plastic bottles in the stores, thus giving birth to Hope in a Box.
Hope in a Box complements The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s sustainability goals geared towards helping consumers reduce their individual footprint.
Catering to today’s consumers with busy lifestyles, Hope in a Box comes in a Tetra Prisma Aseptic, an octagonal, prismatic shape carton designed to fit in hands of all sizes with a resealable cap, making it easy to carry along and enjoy on the go.
Hope in a Box is made available in Tetra Pak cartons which are manufactured mostly from renewable materials. 75% of Tetra Pak cartons is made from paperboard which comes from wood which is a renewable resource. Renewable resources are natural materials that grow back when managed responsibly.
The paperboard used in Tetra Pak packages is sourced from Forest Stewardship Council(FSC) certified forests and other controlled sources. The FSC is an international non-governmental organisation which promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management. Tetra Pak’s FSC license code is FSC C014047. Tetra Pak cartons are also fully recyclable and can be turned into new useful products such as paper-based products, roofing sheets, panel boards, school benches and other items.
With the mission to create social and environmental impact through the introduction of Hope in a Box, HOPE, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Tetra Pak aim to encourage consumers to make a conscious choice in supporting sustainable alternatives. By choosing Hope in a Box, consumers do their part in caring for the environment and supporting public schools in the Philippines.
Partners for Sustainability and the Future
As the country’s first drinking water packed in cartons, Hope in a Box is a step forward towards drinking water in sustainable packaging. To mark this achievement, the three organisations organised an event launch alongside a Christmas Sustainability Fair held at the SM Aura Sky Park last December 9. During the fair, visitors had the chance to visit booths showcasing green initiatives and to join special workshops on upcycling, urban gardening and seed segregation.
With the hope of building the momentum for making sustainable choices, the 3 brands will continue its partnership into 2019 wherein people can drop off their used beverage cartons such as Hope in a Box at select The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf stores for recycling. To stay updated on the initiative, make sure to follow the social media pages of each brand.
