It was a night of wonder with everything that is shining, shimmering, and splendid at the Aguila Ballroom of the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao as they held Client’s Appreciation Party last August 28.

 Invited guests arrived to a whole new world inspired by the tale of Aladdin. Nothing was left to chance as the ballroom was filled with flowers and Moroccan lanterns. There were even low tables where guests can lay back, lounge and truly take in the feelings dining “1001 Arabian Nights” style.

 Even the menu of the evening, masterfully prepared by the hotel’s culinary team headed by Group Executive Chef Giovanni Sias, was a wonder to taste. The buffet tables were laid out much like a Middle Eastern souk filled with exotic spices and wonderful savoury treats like Beef Stew with Moroccan Spice, Beef Kebab with Yoghurt Sauce, and sweet treats like dried dates and various cakes and pastries. There was even a carving station with a whole roast lamb complete with necessary condiments and sauces.

 After dinner, the hotel awarded its top accounts for the year 2018 by category. Among its top producing accounts were Top Travel Agencies (Fastpass Tours, ARS Dream Travel and Tours, Go Dream Tours and Uni-Orient Travel Inc.), Top Government Accounts (DILG Davao, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Province of Davao Occidental and Philippine Information Agency XI and TESDA Region XI), Top Non-government Accounts (UNDP Philippines, Institute for Autonomy and Governance and Palladiun) and Top Corporate Accounts (Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc., Dole Philippines, San Miguel Foods Inc., Eastwest Rural Bank and Soldelsur Development Corporation).

 Specially cited for their recognizable support were the Department of Tourism XI and City Tourism Operations Office Davao. Top Event Planners included El Bonita Events, Pinktouche Events, Dazzle Events and Weddings and Events by Liz while the Top Event Stylists were Golden Touch, Cameo, Floral Pink Designs and Pachadas Event Styling. Cocktails and Dreamsz was awarded Top Event Provider of the Year for her contribution in hotel-initiated events.

 “In the many speeches that I’ve given in the last five years, I’ve learned that there are no right words to use in a welcome speech except ones that are said with gratitude… Times have changed, yet Waterfront remains to be at the forefront of the hospitality industry because of you, your unwavering confidence and loyalty to the company and the people that make it. Tonight, we celebrate the story of us as we end one chapter and begin with another,” Hotel Manager Bryan Yves Lasala addressed at the onset of the program.

 It was a truly magical night made memorable by a stellar production and a mass dance that had all of the Waterfront management team and guests dancing on their feet.
