Davao Oriental Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang vowed to give cash and livelihood assistance to members of the rebel New People’s Army who surrendered to the government.
Dayanghirang bared this assurance during the last day of the Nagkakaisang Lingkod Bayan ng Davao Oriental -Barangay Outreach Program on Friday at Barangay San Jose in the town of Boston, Davao Oriental.
“Each NPA who will surrender to the government will be given P15,000 cash assistance and a livelihood assistance worth P50,000,” Dayanghirang said in vernacular.
The governor also said aside from the cash assistance, the firearms will be returning by these rebels will be also paid depending on its caliber.
Under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP), the government will pay the firearms the returned by a surrendered rebel as additional support.
Dayanghirang also said that rebel returnees will be housed at “Happy Home” in Mati City for them to be assisted having a new life far from conflict.
Happy Home is the rehabilitation program for the rebel returnees built by former governor and now Davao Oriental First District representative Corazon N. Malanyaon.
He also asked the people of Boston tell their NPA friends or relatives tell to surrender before anything bad will happen to them as the government soldier will run after them.
“I give you my 100 percent guarantee that no harm will happen to them once they surrender,” Dayanghirang said.
“Let us help each other so that your town, our province and our country will prosper,” he added.
