JobStart offers 700 pledges for  job hiring

JobStart  Philippines has announced a total of 700 pledges of job vacancies for its second year of implementation in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment and the City Government.

Lilibeth Pantinople, officer in charge of the city’s public employment service office (PESO) that considering budget constraints, the pledges had cut down to 420 pledges, citing a budget that is good only for 330 job starters.

The Davao Jobstart registration started on July 11 until July 12, 2017 at Kadayawan Hall of Nccc Mall of Davao.

Pantinople said the purpose of the Jobstart program is to help give employment for those who needed it.

JobStart was introduced to enhance the training of new graduates who cannot land a job for lack of experience.

She said JobStart gives fresh graduates the key for them to have an edge.

Under this program, fresh graduates undertake a 10-day Life Skills Training starting on July 24 to August 4 according to Cornelita Escamis, a Jobstart focal person. “The training is all about how to prepare the job starter from preparing one-self for employment,”Escamis said.

She also mentioned that the training will include how to prepare the job starter for an interview, how to prepare resume and how to adjust when he or she is accepted by the employer. During the training the registered participants will receive a daily stipend of P200 with free meals.

“In the end of the Life skills training, i-mamatch na namin yan sila doon sa mga employers,” she added.

The skills training will soon follow after that. The technical training will depend on the position that is given by the employer. It will last for 25 days to 3 months which is the maximum period of the said training, depending on the position. As stated by Pantinople, at the end of the skills training the internship will follow which will last for a maximum of 3 months. “Our partner companies sila na mag bayad ug kanang stipend.” she said.
